Biography
Keyghobad Farid Araki, MD, FRCPC, ABAM, FÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ is a Psychiatrist and Addiction Specialist working at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). He is also an Assistant Professor for the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.
Currently, Dr. Araki runs the largest referral Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program for inpatient medical withdrawal services in the Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This service is a close collaboration with outpatient as well as community services that provide a broad range of services to complicated addiction/pain cases with or without concurrent medical or psychiatric comorbidities.
As an addiction medicine specialist trained in psychiatry, he is actively involved in teaching to medical learners, residents, and addiction fellows in different levels and capacities. He lectures extensively on different aspects of addiction with the focus on withdrawal management particularly alcohol, opioids and benzodiazepines.
His professional commitment is to be involved in education and clinical activities, promoting collaborative care to people suffering from addiction and concurrent disorder as well as advocating for excellence in care. He is passionate about destigmatizing addiction and promoting care to marginalized communities.
Dr. Araki currently serves as Region IX Director on the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Board of Directors.
